Ukraine war highlights issues with certain American weapons systems
WASHINGTON (TND) — It’s been two years since Russia invaded Ukraine, and since the war started, some prettyserious flaws in American weapons systems have come to light.
One area of struggle has been with electronic warfare, specifically precision weaponry like GMLRS rockets and Excalibur artillery. Because of Russia’s ability to jam GPS navigation systems that are used to guide missiles and shells to their targets, the success rate of Excalibur shells dropped below 10% before Ukraine’s military stopped using them last year.
A softball team with a purpose
A group of young girls are making a difference through softball and teamwork.
In the fourth year of the Lady Dirtbags softball team, the girls find themselves not just winning but contributing.
During a car wash in Johnstown, the girls displayed team effort and care for the community.
"This looks just like any group of young girls, laughing and having fun," coach Matt Hoffman said.
In order to play for the Lady Dirtbags, it is required for each player to participate in service projects.
NEW YORK CITY (TND) — The Manhattan Criminal Court is reportedly set to be surrounded by barricades as former President Donald Trump expects to be arrested.
A New York grand jury is possibly set to indict Trump over an investigation into alleged hush money that was paid to pornstar Stormy Daniels during the former president's 2016 campaign.
On Saturday, Trump himself said he expects to be arrested sometime in the following week, possibly Tuesday, as a result of the investigation.
One person dead following shooting at mall in Texas
SAN ANTONIO (WOAI) — One person is dead following a shooting at the North Star Mall in San Antonio on Sunday afternoon.
Police say the shooting was an isolated incident inside a barbershop at the mall around 3 p.m.
According to the police, two suspects went inside the barbershop and shot the victim while he was getting a haircut.
Police say the victim has been pronounced dead.
Officials are actively searching for the suspects who fled the scene.
PA couple, dog receive reward for helping locate fugitive who escaped from Warren County Jail
Warren County, PA — The Pennsylvania couple and their dog who came face-to-face with escapee Michael Burham were given a reward on Tuesday.
Thanks to the tip from Ron and Cindy Ecklund, Burham was taken into custody, and they were presented with $2,000 in cash from the Warren County Crime Stoppers.
Their dog Tucker was also celebrated. His rewards include a new collar, a bucket of tennis balls and a steak waiting in the refrigerator.
Thousands of fish salvaged from Jefferson County lake
FALLS CREEK - The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission rescued thousands of fish from a lake in Jefferson County Thursday.
PFBC has been draining Kyle Lake since September in order to repair the unsafe dam.
Before any work can be done, PFBC biologists had to capture and relocate the fish.
"What we're doing is collecting these fish here at the outflow of the lake and moving them down to Cloe Lake later today for good public angling down there,"
Woman deemed competent after series of run-ins with police at restaurants
LEESBURG, Fla. (TND) — A woman described as having “bright red hair” went into a Burger King after police say she was “issued trespass warnings from numerous establishments throughout the day.”
That day was March 17, 2023, and the woman would leave the fast-food restaurant in Florida under arrest for disorderly conduct.
“I knew this female to be Ms. Athena Fouser based on extensive personal knowledge/experience,” a police officer wrote in the arrest report.
