First legal moonshine distillery opens in Somerset
SOMERSET - Pennsylvania is already known for its role in the Whiskey Rebellion, and nearly 200 years later, Somerset County is bringing moonshine back on the market. The county's first legal moonshine distillery hosted its grand opening this week. Just along the Mason Dixon Highway, Tall Pines Distillery attracted customers from as far as Florida and New Hampshire this weekend alone.
The owners say they expect to attract even more tourism as their business grows.
First-of-its-kind dinosaur bones discovered at Laurel, Maryland park
LAUREL, Md. (7News) — A rare dinosaur bone bed was recently discovered at a Laurel, Maryland park, according to Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation.
The host of bones was found at M-NCPPC Dinosaur Park and officials said it's the first of its kind found in Maryland since 1887, marking a major milestone in paleontological research. Officials tell 7News that the term “bone bed” is used by paleontologists when bones of one or more species are concentrated within a geologic layer.

Latrobe man charged following domestic, road rage incident in Richland Twp., police say
Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Richland Township Police Department say a Latrobe man is behind bars following a domestic-related incident Thursday afternoon.

POASD Votes to Push Back School Start time
PHILIPSBURG, Pa — The Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District is looking at a change for next school year. Tonight, the school board voted for the schools’ start times to get pushed back.
The school district says the need for change comes with the best interest of the students in mind.
Board members say research has shown that later start times for students are better because they are able to get an extra 40 minutes of sleep.
Suspended NJ trooper sentenced to months in jail following incident involving teen girl
Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — A New Jersey man who spent years in law enforcement will now be among those behind bars.
David De Jesus, a suspended New Jersey state trooper, was sentenced Friday to serve 60 days to 23-and-a-half months in the Centre County Prison for an incident that occurred at a State College hotel last year.
He previously pleaded guilty to charges of false imprisonment and providing alcohol to a minor.
