Stray cat on the mend after undergoing surgeries to remove eyes

BOSTON (TND) — An animal organization is searching for the owner of a stray cat that survived "major trauma" and had to undergo "extensive medical care" to remove both his eyes. The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-Angell (MSPCA) said Gills is a resilient 2-year-old kitty that is "finally on the road to recovery." In a news release, the MSPCA said Boston Animal Control found Gills in Dorchester suffering from serious injuries, with officers suspecting he was hit by a car.

WASHINGTON (7News) — The D.C. Council got a detailed update this past week on which speed cameras in the city are taking the most pictures. The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) said the busiest speed camera in the entire city is located along the northbound Potomac Freeway at 25th Street in Northwest. It also happens to be one of the newest ones. From Oct. 1 through New Year’s Eve of last year, this camera issued 33,682 tickets.

Ferguson Twp. Police form cold case team, ask for public's help

Ferguson Township police are asking for the public’s help in solving a nearly 3-year-old homicide. Police said for the first time in the department’s history, they’ve dedicated a cold case team to investigate three unsolved cases, including the homicide of Jean Tuggy. Tuggy was found in her home on Irion Street shot in the face with no sign of a struggle or break-in Jan. 20, 2016, according to police. They said they’re bringing fresh eyes to the cases, and that’s why they’re asking for help from anyone with information.

Former manager of Clearfield haunted house accused of repeatedly raping teen girl

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Clearfield County say a former manager of a local haunted tourist attraction is facing charges after he was accused of repeatedly raping a teenage girl. According to the affidavit, state police allege that Kip Kolesar Jr., now age 26, sexually assaulted the 14-year-old victim at various locations, including the site of the haunted house and at a local baseball field. Police say, according to the victim, Kolesar allegedly raped the girl approximately 10 times during the summer and fall of 2021.

Fiery crash on Route 22 in Cresson Township leaves one dead

2nd UPDATE |Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities say Route 22 westbound in Cresson Township has reopened after being closed for nearly four hours following a fiery crash that left one person dead. Investigators say the victim was traveling westbound when the vehicle reportedly left the roadway and struck a road sign before colliding with an embankment. Police say the vehicle then crashed and overturned multiple times before it caught fire.
