People create their own statement pieces involving the Twin Spires, horses and even the starting gate at Churchill Downs, which is celebrating the 150th running of the famous race this weekend in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Derby was created by Meriweather Lewis Clark Jr., who wanted to bring the class and elegance of European racing to America.

WASHINGTON (TND) — Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito sold between $1,000 and $15,000 worth of stock in Bud Light parent company Anheuser-Busch last August, according to financial disclosure documents released by the federal judiciary.
The transaction on August 16 coincided with a purchase of Molson Coors within the same price range. That company owns big brews such as Blue Moon, Coors Light and Hamm’s.
Justice Alito appears to have lost out on the trade, however, as Anheuser-Busch stock traded at $55.
Meyersdale squeaks by Conemaugh Valley 20-14
JOHNSTOWN — Meyersdale football defeated Conemaugh Valley, 20-14, in thrilling fashion.
The Red Raiders grabbed a 14-0 halftime lead, thanks to a pair of Devin Kretchman touchdown runs.
But, Conemaugh Valley fought back to tie the game at 14-14 in the second half.
Meyersdale scored a touchdown, as time expired. Red Raider quarterback Mahlon Reese found John Harvey for a 4-yard scoring connection.

NTSB releases latest findings in R.M. Palmer factory explosion
NTSB has been investigating the natural gas-fueled explosion at R.M. Palmer Co. Factory that ended 7 people's lives last March in West Reading, PA.
According to NTSB's latest findings, natural gas was linking from a DuPont Aldyl A service tee that was installed in 1982.
UGI exposed and retired the service line that was connected to this tee in 2021 when they relocated the natural gas meter from the basement to the outside of Building 2, where the explosion would later occur.

Clearfield restaurant unveils new menu item in honor of man featured on History Channel
CLEARFIELD CO, Pa (WJAC) — Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield County is known as the home of the world's largest burger challenges.
On Friday, owner Denny Leighey unveiled a new menu item, the "rock house" burger.
It is named in honor of Bradford Township native Roland Welker, who won season seven of the History Channel's survivalist show "Alone.”
He used the memory of his mother, who passed away just before the show was filmed, to help him survive 100 days in isolation in the Northwest Territories of Canada.
Family displaced, dog killed after fire destroys Blair Co. mobile home, fire chief says
Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Duncansville Fire Department say a family of four has been displaced following a blaze at a mobile home in Juniata Township late Tuesday morning.
911 officials say crews were called to the home, located along the 100 block of High Drive, just before 11 a.m.
According to Duncansville Fire Chief Mike Gonsman, the mobile home was destroyed and the family lost a dog in the fire.
Family's Christmas tree farm struggles to meet demand; other U.S. farms report the same

CENTRE HALL/CENTRE COUNTY, Pa — The Nittany Antique Machinery Association of Central Pennsylvania held their 46th annual spring show at Penn’s Cave this weekend. After COVID stopped the show last year, the annual antique show and flea market resumed in Centre County.
The show attracted tractor enthusiasts from across the region for each of the last three days. Even after a year off on account of the pandemic, the popular event picked up right where it left off in 2019, allowing attendees to indulge in the history.
PA teen, 13, charged with homicide after stabbing woman to death in Wilkes-Barre
Wilkes-Barre, PA — Authorities say a 13-year-old girl is being charged as an adult with homicide after stabbing a woman to death inside a home in Pennsylvania on Friday.
Police say they were called to the scene around noon for a report of an unresponsive woman who was not breathing.
When they arrived, they found the 44-year-old victim with multiple stab wounds to her neck, back and heavy blood flowing from her head.
