CENTRE CO, Pa (WJAC) — Friday was the opening night of the Grange Fair in Centre County, which included the opening ceremony, truck pulling, an animal dressing contest, line dancing and much more.
The Grange Fair runs through next Saturday.
This year's Grange Fair queen is State College Area high school student Mattee Stoicheff, who was crowned on Wednesday at the fairgrounds in Centre Hall.
She has been coming to the fair since she was an infant and her family has had a tent at the fair for many years.

Courtney Crawford works the early morning shift at a Starbucks in Little Rock.

Cambria County officials react to five county employees receiving "very large yearend bonuses"
Cambria County controller Ed Cernic Jr. said about $70,000 went to five county employees at the end of last year.
The people are getting the stipends in large part because of the additional work they did after former chief clerk Michael Gelles died in April last year. The county is still without a chief clerk.
Officials said the employees role in implementing a new software system.
Cernic said he is the one that proposed the idea to the commissioners and when the salary board, made of the commissioners and the controller, voted on the stipends at the last commissioners meeting of 2023, the stipends passed with a 3-1 vote.
Dr. Bob's Medical Weight Loss Clinic closes in Johnstown
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — One of the oldest and largest medical weight loss programs in the state was closed Wednesday.
That's according to a sign that was posted on the door of the Johnstown office of Dr. Bob's Medical Weight Loss Clinic.
The sign states: "due to circumstances beyond our control, Dr. Bob's Medical Weight Loss is currently closed."

New report says Freeh report "flawed"
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WJAC) —
An internal report by seven Penn State trustees questions the findings of the 2012 Freeh Report and the methods used to draw its conclusions.
The document, officially titled, “Report to the Board of Trustees of the Pennsylvania State University on the Freeh Report’s flawed methodology and conclusions” was completed and presented to the full trustee board in the summer of 2018.
The seven trustees who commissioned the report said the full board decided to not make its findings public.
PSU President discusses future of the university
State College, PA (WJAC) — The president of Penn State says outcomes and accountability of university programming will remain key issues moving forward as the university's top administrator outlined her vision for Penn State's future priorities on Monday.
Dr. Neeli Bendapudi talked about the past, Penn State's role as a land grant university, and its future.
She also shared a new online dashboard that will show student graduation rates by race, and other campus diversity related issues.
Puff Super Value robbed at gunpoint
ALTOONA – The Puff Super Value tobacco store in the Juniata section of Altoona was robbed at gunpoint Saturday morning, police reported.
Police said the description of the suspect in Saturday's incident is similar to that of a man seen in surveillance images from three other recent Blair County armed robberies. Officials said Wednesday those images show a suspect wearing what looks like similar clothing in each of the incidents.

Johnstown native honors late son, completes graduation from Duquesne University
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Duquesne University honored more than 430 members of its Class of 2021 Friday at its winter commencement ceremony.
For one of those graduates, Johnstown resident Dr. Tom Fleming, commencement meant more than just receiving a degree.
In 2002, Dr. Fleming completed his coursework at Duquesne's School of Education but never finished his dissertation.
Years later, Dr. Fleming's son Ryan enrolled at the university.
Sadly, Ryan passed away from a rare heart condition in 2014 during his sophomore year.
Penn State students celebrate State Patty's Day
State Patty’s is in full swing in downtown State College and local police said they feel confident in their plan to make sure things stay under control.
State Patty’s is a way for Penn State students to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day, since that will be during their spring break.
Students said that they, and select others, celebrate in downtown State College while hosting visitors for the weekend.
Businesses are seen with lines out the door, and students said they expect to be celebrating all throughout the night.
