Chick-fil-A staff call cops on woman in drive-thru DUI with child in car
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WJAC) — Police say a State College woman is facing charges after employees at a Chick-fil-A told officers they thought she was under the influence of marijuana when she drove through the drive-thru with her 2-year-old child in her car.
According to a criminal complaint, 27-year-old Chelsea Vacich is facing a felony count of endangering the welfare of a child and several misdemeanors related to driving under the influence.

Local police department now fully equipped with tasers, via new state funding
Cambria County, PA — Chief B.J. Newman, with the West Hills Regional Police Department says the idea of providing more tasers to his officers was proposed by the previous chief. He says he is glad to see it come to fruition, through state representative Frank Burns, of the 72nd District.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania is considering changing the state's 2024 presidential primary to an earlier day, although the proposed move may do little to give the state's voters more say in deciding presidential nominees.
State lawmakers plan to vote on legislation Wednesday that would change Pennsylvania's primary from late April to late March.
The state is a premier battleground in presidential elections, but it hasn't hosted a competitive presidential primary since 2008, when Hillary Clinton pulled off a win to stay alive against Barack Obama, the leader in delegates and eventual winner of that year's Democratic nomination.

Bellefonte softball using team bonds to find success
BELLEFONTE -- With just a few weeks remaining in the regular season, the Bellefonte High School softball team is near the top of the Mountain League standings at 11-3.
The Red Raiders took home a district title in 2014 and have hopes to return to the championship game this season. Head coach Fred Caldwell believes that the bonds formed on this year's team have helped them find success.

Bill Mazeroskis uniform, bat to be displayed at Western PA Sports Museum
PITTSBURGH – Pirates fans will soon be able to relive one of the greatest moment in the franchise’s history thanks to a donation to the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum.
Businessman Thomas Tull, a member of the Steelers’ ownership group, and his wife Alba donated Bill Mazeroski’s uniform and bat from Game 7 of the 1960 World Series to the museum.
Mazeroski hit the winning home run in the bottom of the ninth of Game 7 against the New York Yankees to give the Pirates their third World Series title in franchise history.
GoFundMe created to help family with funeral expenses after house fire claimed 3 lives
LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — A GoFundMe page has been created to help pay for the funeral expenses of three people who died in a Clearfield County house fire Monday morning.
Authorities say flames broke out at a house on Jury Street in Lawrence Township Monday just after 2 a.m.
Investigators say 51-year-old Mary Erickson and 6-year-old Shania Watson were found dead in the home.
Two other victims were taken to a hospital, including 7-year-old Angel Erickson, who died Wednesday in Pittsburgh.
Huntingdon Sheetz employee has COVID-19, company says
HUNTINGDON, Pa. (WJAC) — Sheetz says an employee at one of their Huntingdon County locations has tested positive for COVID-19.
They say the employee works at their store along 1330 Moore Street in Huntingdon.
Sheetz says they are making the public aware as communities continue to fight the spread of the virus.
The company released the following statement:
“Sheetz has been informed that an employee at our store location on Moore Street in Huntingdon, PA, has tested positive for COVID-19.
New PA CareerLink location opens in Altoona Library
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Local and state leaders gathered in Altoona Thursday for the grand opening of a new PA CareerLink location inside the Altoona Area Public Library.
Officials say the new location will assist students and job seekers with finding local training and job opportunities.
Representatives from the Department of Labor and Industry say the programs also help businesses find talented employees.
CareerLink officials say the new location is more accessible and will help broaden their reach.
