Why schools delay because of low wind chill

Dozens of local schools were delayed Wednesday because of below zero wind chill temperatures. “We have to use common sense. We can't delay school every day because of wind chill,” Richland School District superintendent Arnold Nadonley said. “However, the first few times we do it to get the parents on notice that, ‘hey it's time to make sure your kids are appropriately dressed and taken care of.’” Among the schools Richland and Central Cambria school districts each operated on a two-hour delay.

Johnstown man threatened juveniles with gun at local McDonald's

JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — West Hills police say a Johnstown man is behind bars after he threatened two juveniles with a gun at a local McDonald's, according to a criminal complaint. Police say 19-year-old Jonathan Bragg faces charges of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment, according to online court documents. Authorities say on Oct. 17, two juveniles reported that they had been harassed and threatened by Bragg, who was known to them, at the McDonald's in Lower Yoder Township.

Two killed in Friday's head-on crash in Altoona

UPDATE:BLAIR CO, Pa (WJAC) — According to a release from the Logan Township police department, both drivers involved in Friday afternoon's crash in Altoona have died from their injuries. Police say the driver of a 2015 Subaru, identified as 79-year-old Jerry Sneath, crossed the center turn lane, along the 1600 block of East Pleasant Valley Blvd., and struck the second vehicle head-on. The driver of the second vehicle has been identified as 78-year-old Thomas Gill.

Employee accused of smuggling drugs into SCI Houtzdale appears in court

CLEARFIELD, Pa. — A state prison employee accused of bringing drugs into a Clearfield County facility appeared in court Wednesday. Rick Davis Jr., 36, of Philipsburg, was charged Saturday with felony manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, felony intentional possession of controlled substance, felony possession of controlled substance contraband/inmate and misdemeanor use/possession of drug paraphernalia. Davis waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday and had all charges bound over for trial.
