Philipsburg walks off with dramatic first round win

STATE COLLEGE -- The PIAA baseball and softball tournaments started Monday with first round games at neutral sites. In a Class AA showdown, the Philipsburg-Osceola softball team rallied to beat Steel Valley 6-5 in 8 innings. Trailing in the seventh inning, Haylee Hayward and Chelsey Henry hit back-to-back homers to tie the game. Then in the eighth, Hayward delivered again with a walk-off hit to deep center, bringing in the winning run.

SFU's Villarrial looks forward to 2020 season

JOHNSTOWN — WJAC-TV is introducing a new segment called "Coach Conversations." We'll interview coaches in our viewing area, and air the best parts of the conversations. The first edition of the segment starts with St. Francis head football coach Chris Villarrial. Villarrial is entering his 11th season as head coach of the Red Flash. He's the most successful coach in program history. SFU won its only NEC championship in 2016, with Villarrial at the helm.

Wal-Mart adding winery to Richland Township store

CURWENSVILLE - A Clearfield County winery that's teamed up with a retail giant will soon be making its way to Cambria County. Starr Hill Vineyard & Winery will be opening a store inside Wal-Mart in Johnstown, Richland Township. Owner Kenn Starr said he learned the art of making wine by his father's side in 1952. Over the past three years, his small winery nestled in the town of Curwensville on Bailey Road has been expanding into the large retailer.

Pittsburgh duo arrested with over $9,000 worth of drugs in Blair County

Two Pittsburgh area residents were arrested Monday in Blair County after allegedly being busted with more than $9,000 worth of drugs. Logan Township police charged James Watts Jr., 18, Glassport, and a juvenile after stopping the two while leaving an East 6th Avenue apartment in Altoona. According to a probable-cause affidavit, Watts led police on a foot chase before being arrested. Police found $472, seven grams of crack, five grams of cocaine, five grams of heroin, more than 40 Xanax pills and approximately 264 bags of heroin on Watts, according to the affidavit.
