New Jersey deployed 100 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., Saturday ahead of potential trucker convoy protests set to take place the day of President Joe Biden's State of the Union address.

The so-called "People's Convoy" is similar to protests seen in Canada in recent weeks.

The Pentagon approved the deployment of 700 national guard troops from D.C., New Jersey, Vermont, and West Virginia.

While troops will be unarmed, the Pentagon says they will assist armed law enforcement officers with traffic control.
